Feliz Navidad! Feliz año! Este post será algo diferente a los anteriores... a sugerencia de una pregunta en la sección de comentarios anteriores, mi último blog del año será en dos idiomas. Como también siempre me gusta salirme del tema, hablaré un poco de que hacer en la capital de mi país.

Comenzando por las buenas noticias... en cuanto a resultados pokerísticos, Diciembre fue mi mejor mes.... mi mejor resultado del 2012 incluido, al quedar segundo en el Big $8.80. Como algunos de los que me siguen saben, he subido stakes y en adicción a eso estoy haciendo sesiones realmente largas (de 10 horas de registro, terminando grindeando literalmente desde que me levanto hasta que me duermo). Como resultado mis inversiones se han disparado, mis swings se han incrementado... y ha sido realmente afortunado comenzar con buen pie esta nueva etapa. Obviamente no todo es perfecto, y por un lado una parte importante de mis ganancias del mes se fueron con la bolsa de NY, que se esta viniendo en picada; pero bueno, eso es otro tema.

Por cierto, para compensar el esfuerzo de grindear tanto en un día (aunque me guste mucho el poker, es demasiado esfuerzo físico y mental - sobretodo este último) solo voy a grindear 3 veces por semana y en mis días libres hacer todo menos poker.

December was my best 2012 poker month. I manage to finish 2nd at the PokerStars's Big $8.80 (I think got a bit unlucky on the final Head's Up against a pretty good guy to make things even harder... but run good almost the whole tournament - as you need in order to make a deep run on such a big field). Also make some other 4figs, unfortunately the NYSE took some of my profit as every stock I got money invested plummet.

I've change my grinding schedule this month, used to grind only NLHE MTTs and register for about 4-5 hours grinding like 4-5 days/week. Starting this month I'm making long registering sessions (about 10 hours of registration), and to compensate the effort I will only grind 3 days/week. So far I'm enjoying this rythm a lot, I got more time for my personal stuff, grind more volume (in less effective hours/week), and it really helped to start doing this new rutine with some good results.

Ayer con esa rutina de raskingball un día, grind el otro... me la pase desestresandome. Pase un día bien entretenido, me visito una amiga... bañamos a mi perrita, fuimos a comer parrilla, vimos pelas, fui a hacer un poco de shopping, en la noche me encontre con mis patazas de la U. Me divertí y descanse como para estar a punto para mi sesión de hoy Viernes (la última del año)... quería cerrarla a lo grande.

Como les mencionaba, eso de hacer sesiones largas hace que mis inversiones se disparen. Hoy las cosas empezaron un poco tilt tras hacer una mesa final en un MTT de $22, pero perder noveno en un cooler (99 vs AA de cut-off vs botón). Me dije, no importa, tengo otro deep... estaba en la mesa final del torneo 1UP (un multientry 4x de $5.50, que por cierto, gane esta semana... o mejor dicho lo spliteé)... pero me badbetea el jugador mas débil de la mesa (uno que abria todas las manos 4x y overbeteaba todos los boards). Me volví a decir, no importa, voy bien en el Big $22 (estaba entre los lideres casi empezando el torneo con 20k en avg 5k)... pero perdí un par de flips fuertes y bustee cerca a ITM. Dije de nuevo, no importa... voy bien en el mas caro... había entrado por satélite a un torneo de $163 y a pesar de que el nivel es bastante alto, había armado stack... pero perdí un poco tilt cuando me shovearon K4 utg (pague con AQs)... el flop sale mi Q, el turn me da proyecto de color, river K. Me quede con algo de 18bbs, sube un ruso (creo) dsde UTG+1, le empujo mi stack, me paga instantáneo con TJs... sale su J pero tengo overcards y flushdraw, pero no salió nada y fue. Volví a decir, no importa... iba medio deep en el Freeroll 100k para Goldstar+; ese paga $15,000 al primero... lo juegan millones y quedabamos 100. Shoveo AQ, me paga A6 y sale 6xx6x. Después de eso no volví a decir no importa. Busteé varios MTTs más, y me quede solo en 6 estando lejos de ITM. Eso fue hace como 3 horas creo... arme stack en el que probablemente es mi mejor torneo: Un deepstack de $26. Estamos en blinds 250/500 y tengo algo de 40k. Subo QQ, me 3-betea un nit algo malo, usualmente mandaría el 4-bet pero estando tan deep escojo ver el flop. El flop es QKx, pienso, ahora como lo stackeo... pero feliz de ver como recibía un overshove de cara. Creo que el pozo en el flop era 7k, y me shoveo 5x el pot. Ocurre esto:

Estoy haciendo mi mejor esfuerzo para que la última sesión del 2012, no sea también la peor.

Have a really fun day yesterday, which was the plan for the grind 1 day/relax 1 day schedule. A female friend visited me... she's quite pretty but unfortunately way too crazy (I'm quite sure she doesn't speak english, but if she does, my blog account was hacked and I never wrote this)... we eat a barbacue - I'm not sure if the right word is grill, but w/e - watch "Trouble with the curve" from the great Clint (great movie as expected), shower my schnauzer, at night met with some of my best college buddies... did some pre-new year's eve cloth shopping... all-in all a great and relaxing day. I thought my mind was perfectly setup and tuned to grind the last session of 2012 (as I won't be able to play the last 2 days of the year).

And today... yara yara yara... badbeat... yara yara yara... cooler... yara yara yara... got 2-outered... yara yara yara... Making a final table only to bust "min-cashing". The standard poker stuff. I'm very close to make the final session of the year the worst one. ATM I'm on the final 2 MTTs.

Beach

There are plenty of beachs (quite obv, as Lima is on the Coast, and the Ocean Pacific is on our West). I strongly recommend the ones that are about 100km (60 miles) to the Southwest... also known as the bathing station of Asia. There are also some good beachs a little bit closer (about 20 miles) but on the summer weekends they get really crowded.

I'm probably missing like a lot of places to know/visit, but is a good start point I think. Also I want to recommend some typical/good dishes and some affordable restaurants.

Cebiche: Chin Chin, Pez-ón, La Rosa Naútica (maybe this last one is a expensive than the other ones).

Lomo Saltado: Hikari, José Antonio

Pizza: La Romana, Papa John's

Comida Criolla: El Embrujo

And about drinks, I strongly recommend the Pisco Sour (and some varieties of Pisco) at "Las Brujas del Cachiche". Also another good place is "El Bolivariano".

Just bust my last MTT, so I'm going to end the post in here... again, have a great 2K13, and hope you enjoy the reading. I wrote this post quite fast, so some of the stuff might be uncomprehensible/unreadable. BTW, manage to make a couple of final tables on my last MTTs, so I finished my session about -$215, which is bad, but not near as bad as it could be.

Perdí mis últimos torneitos... acabe abajo $215.24 para ser exacto; de hecho no es gratificante acabar en rojo después de dedicarle todo el día al grind (y me perdí una salida al Sur) pero pudo ser mucho pero mucho peor.

En la parte de que cosas hay para hacer en Lima de hecho faltan mil cosas, asi que comenten para ir agregando. Eso es todo por este año, y lo mejor para todos en el que viene. Chau!
